Each evening began with a brief act of worship. There were questions and further discussion over coffee afterwards.

John Austin Baker has served the Church as a distinguished theologian and bishop. At one time Chairman of the Church of England Doctrine Commission, his classic work The Foolishness of God is a comprehensive exploration of intelligent Christian faith. He will return to his roots as a biblical scholar for the opening lecture of this series.

Ralph Godsall has had a diverse ministry, from college chaplaincy to parishes in Yorkshire and London. Now responsible for the range of worship in a busy Cathedral, he will reflect with us on the ways in which good worship shapes and deepens our relationship with God and our neighbour, and encourages within us the ’happiness of hope’.

Christine Farrington has had an extensive ministry in theological education, chaplaincy and as a director of ordinands in the Ely Diocese. She is also a Chaplain to the Queen. She knows the Church of England from the inside and is well qualified to take an honest look at the state of the Church today.

Edward Cardale combines being Vicar of Lemsford in the Hatfield Team Ministry with his post as Director of Pastoral Studies in the new Eastern Region Ministry Course, based in Cambridge. He has a special interest in marriage and family relationships.

How to find us.
The church is floodlit after dark, and can be seen on the B653 Hatfield to Wheathampstead. Turn off this road for Lemsford Village, then turn right just past the church, through a narrow gate, for parking in St John’s School playground.
